The Future
The school is growing!
In 2024, the oldest children will begin 10th Grade! Most of these children have been in the school since Kindergarten.
With this growth, comes the need to construct additional classrooms. Last year, we acquired a third piece of adjacent property (the last available). We constructed another classroom building, and are now in the process of constructing the final four-classroom building, with additional required restrooms. Enough rooms are needed for 15 classes (K-4 through 12th Grade), plus a science lab, library, computer lab, additional restrooms, an infirmary, and offices. We are still in need of funding to complete the classrooms. There is also a need for a multi-purpose athletic field (not just a need, but a government requirement). Currently, the children play soccer and other sports on a section of the school property that floods in the rainy season, and dries up with dangerous open fissures in the dry season. No money has yet been raised for this project.
And Beyond!
After the school in La Magdalena is completed and financially stable, our goal is to establish similar high-quality schools in other small communities and rural areas in El Salvador, reaching as many children as possible.
