EL SALVADOR MISSION TRIP 2023 – GOD AT WORK!

The Mission Team from Dahlonega United Methodist Church has just returned from a successful trip to El Salvador. Yes, there was much physically accomplished, but more important was the spiritual growth of our team, and the relationships formed and strengthened with our friends in El Salvador. One of the highlights of the trip was the team’s nightly devotional time together. Each night, after the devotion, Pastor Steve asked us, “Where did you see God today?” We did not have any problem answering this, as His Holy Spirit permeated everything about this trip.

God showed up in a mighty way throughout this trip! He was with us in the hot physical labor of working alongside of our local friends on the foundation of the already-needed new four-classroom building. He was with team members Linda and Susie as they helped the teachers in the classrooms throughout the week. God was with us as we worshiped with our La Magdalena church family. We saw God in the children as they greeted us and interacted with us each day. We saw God in the wonderful ladies who lovingly made meals for us each day and served us so graciously. He was in the connections made that will result in much-needed financial help with the school. And He was in the relationships and friendships that were formed and will last a lifetime.

We delivered needed physical items, such as Bibles for the older children, the rest of the computers for the computer lab, and more. We also delivered gifts for the children and teachers, made lovingly by members of our church, such as Salvation Dolls for the Kindergarten children, and pocket crosses for all of the children. The DUMC Children’s Ministry Director, Vanessa had the DUMC children make cards for all of the children of the La Magdalena school, which they received and read with delight! One little boy said that he was happy that he just learned how to hold a pencil so that he could reply to his letter!

We cannot say “Thank You” enough for your support of this Team for this trip, and your continued support of the school and children in the little village of La Magdalena. God, through you, is definitely making a lasting difference in the lives of these children and their families! God Bless You!
